What is my Local Potential Score and how is it calculated?

What is the Local Potential Score?

The Local Potential Score is a tracker within Unify that shows how much of your store’s full local visibility potential has been activated. It measures how effectively your products, channels, tools, and links are working together to help nearby shoppers discover and buy from your physical store.

A score of 100% means your store is making full use of all currently available local commerce opportunities within Unify.

How the score works

Your score is based on four core areas:

  • Channels
  • Tools
  • Links
  • Products

The overall formula is:

(Channels + Tools + Links) × % of visible in-stock products

This means that simply activating channels is not enough - your products also need to be fully visible and searchable for shoppers.

For example, if many products are missing titles or key information, they may not appear across channels even if those channels are enabled.

Score breakdown

BAse

Channels (up to 40%)

Measures how many discovery channels are enabled for your store, helping products appear in more places for local shoppers.

Examples may include:

  • Google Search and Maps
  • Storefront
  • Other connected discovery channels

Tools (up to 30%)

Measures which conversion-focused tools are active to help turn product views into store visits and sales.

Links (up to 10%)

Measures whether important links and integrations outside of Unify itself have been connected.

This is generally the area requiring the most retailer input.

Products (0-100% multiplier)

Measures the percentage of in-stock products that are actually searchable and display-ready.

Currently, this is calculated using:

  • Number of products with titles vs
  • Number of products without titles

At minimum, products need:

  • Barcode
  • Stock level
  • Price
  • Title

Additional enrichment like images, descriptions, brands, and categories can further improve visibility and shopper experience, though these are not currently part of the scoring itself.

Starting score

Stores generally begin with a baseline score of around 20% once:

  • inventory is connected
  • and a physical store location is active

What should I aim for?

Most retailers are encouraged to aim for at least 60% within their first 30 days, then continue improving over time as more channels, tools, and product data are activated.

Important note

Different channels may approve and display products differently. For example, Google may show a different percentage of products compared to your Storefront or other channels. This is normal, as each platform has its own requirements and approval processes.
